Huia Marlborough Pinot Gris 2024
Pale lemon. Baked pear. Short crust pastry. Apple crumble. White blossom. Baking spices. Hot-crossed buns. Grilled orange. Toasted nuts. Poached pear. Christmas lily. Star anise. Fresh lime. Racey acidity. Lightly textural. Nice long finish.

The 2024 vintage started off a bit unsettled during flowering, this led to small yields resulting in great concentration in the final wines. However, a long warm summer with little rain resulted in excellent quality fruit. Our grapes were sourced from well-established vines located in Grovetown in the Lower Wairau Valley.
The fruit was handpicked and partially destemmed before pressing. It was then cold settled and racked into a mix of stainless steel and old barriques before fermenting using a combination of organic and wild yeasts.
Food Pairing: Deep fried chicken drumsticks, crumbed with nutmeg, cinnamon spices. Warm fruit toast with butter, topped with manchego cheese and quince paste. A handful of salted nuts.
