La Piuma Chianti DOCG 2017 (Italy)
- Plum & dark charry
- Mixed spice
- Almond
- Fine-grained tannins
"A real find. So much affordable Chianti disappoints, not this. I put my name behind it" Steve Bennett, Master of Wine, Importer
"The wine is attractively fruited and fragrant on the nose showing dark cherry, plum, mixed spice, olive and almond characters. The palate displays lovely weight and fruit intensity, elegantly framed by fine-grained tannins. This is modern and youthfully charming with bright fruit flavours and silky mouthfeel. At its best: now to 2022" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Dec 2019
"Quite a savoury, earthy Chianti with violet, blueberry, fresh herb and a suggestion of baked earth flavours. Crisp, lively acidity helps drive a reasonably lengthy finish. A moderately rustic red that offers undeniable value at this price" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Top Drops Under $25, Dec 2019
This wine is harvested from estate-owned vineyards grown on clay and calcareous soil located in Central Tuscany, between Florence and Siena provinces. An intense vinous bouquet is typical of this wine, as well as lively red colour, balanced notes and dry, savoury and slightly tannic flavours.
100% Sangiovese vinified by world renowned vintners MGM/Mondo del Vino, a company at the forefront of environmental performance analysis, as well as being the first winery in Europe to embrace the EU green policy. MGM has 28 years of success as a wine exporter and has previously been awarded Best Wine Producer by Mundus Vini and Best Italian Wine Producer in the Austrian Wine Challenge.
Food Pairing: Excellent with red meats and seasoned cheese, such as Parmesan 36 months or Pecorino di Pienza.
