Mr Riggs Three Corner Jack McLaren Vale Shiraz Cabernet Merlot 2019 (Australia)
- Dark berry
- Ripe plum
- Subtle spice
- Velvety mouthfeel
This magical mishmash of varieties combines the rich, dark berry fruit and spice of Shiraz with the elegant and firm structure of Cabernet, all wrapped up in a velvety blanket of soft, plummy fruit from the Merlot component. The end result is an unctuous red blend with fiery flavours reined in by superb integration.
In Mr. Riggs’ world, the three-corner jack represents a blend of our region’s three finest grapes; Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Grapes for the ‘Three Corner Jack’ have been sourced from vineyards located at some of McLaren Vale’s best sites. McLaren Vale has a near perfect climate for grape growing; warm summers, low humidity, good winter rain and long autumns to ensure that grapes achieve ripeness, flavour, acid and balance.
The Three Corner Jack is sourced from three of Mr. Riggs’ established vineyards, and just like the pesty three-corner jack, it’s very hard to ignore once it latches on.
This is the fancy name of 1) Ben’s beloved three-variety red blend and 2) a bugger of a three-spiked prickle that latches on and rarely lets go once its claws are attached. Prolific throughout vineyards in McLaren Vale and other South Australian regional areas, the three-corner jack is hard to ignore.
Food Pairing: Serve it with a steak, lamb chops or take it to your mates place for a Sunday barbie.
