Mystery Wairarapa Pinot Gris 2024
Black Market Mystery Wines™ are simply wines we love, with the branding hidden and revealed only when it arrives at your door!
"A complete wine on the nose and palate, with aromas and flavours of green pear and apple, spice, quince, lemon, and lees. Dry with medium-plus weight, core flavours of pomaceous fruits, white pepper spice, fine fruit tannin mouthfeel, and a mineral lees quality. Best drinking from the day of purchase through 2028" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Mar 2025

This is a wonderfully exotic wine with ripe aromas of yellow rose, pear and ginger on the nose. The palate is rich with nectarine and tropical fruit, with a smooth luscious finish.
We source our fruit from two outstanding Wairarapa vineyards characterised by a cool dry climate and free draining soils, ideal for ripening Pinot varieties. The 2024 season had exceptional weather for ripening grapes, a classic cool, dry growing season allowing extra hang time for flavour accumulation.
The grapes were harvested fully ripe over a number of days, and gently pressed. Fermentation occurred at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks with selected yeast to optimise aromatic expression. After ferment the wine remained on fine lees for added texture, before blending and bottling.
Food Pairing: Perfect on its own, it’s also incredibly versatile with a wide range of dishes—our top pairings include chilled peach and red curry mussels.
