Pencarrow Martinborough Pinot Gris 2022
- Off-dry style
- Poached fruit
- Subtle spice
- Satin finish
"This is accessible and rounded with attractive aromas of green pear, apricot, fig and subtle spice, which lead to a succulent palate that’s plump and rounded. Fruit expressive and beautifully flowing to a length refreshing finish. At its best: now to 2025" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2022
"Aromas of white fleshed fruits including pear and yellow apple, a touch of spice and honeysuckle then poached fruits. Just dry as the wine touches the palate, a contrasting acid line precedes flavours of lemon and apple, spice and pear. A satin finish with moderate length and complexity. Well made with best drinking from day of purchase through end of summer 2025" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Aug 2023
Pale lemon with a pinkish hue. An exotic and intense bouquet of nashi pear, nutmeg, Rose apple, honeysuckle and citrus blossom. An off-dry style of Pinot Gris with a mouthful of upfront apple and pear fruit, tempered by a fine line of acidity and a palate cleansing ‘wet stone’ minerality. Easy to fall for with enough complexity and texture to keep your attention, this is a crowd-pleasing style.
70% of the fruit from the Pencarrow Vineyard, 28% from the Palliser Vineyard. The fruit is harvested and has 3 hours skin contact to aid in extraction of aromas and flavour. The grapes are gently pressed, tank fermented to 7g/litre of residual sugar adding weight and texture. The wine is aged for a further 3 months on lees gaining complexity before bottling.
Food Pairing: Perfect with the piquant spices of Asian fusion cuisine as well as roast pork and apple sauce. Enjoy in its youth or through 2027.
