Petal & Stem Marlborough Pinot Gris 2023
The nose is delicate with notes of pear drop, white peach and honeycomb aromas. The palate shows notes of pear and ripe red berries, with a crisp and refreshing mineral finish.

Journey into the wildflowers, a secret world between the vines, where insects dance from petal to stem, a flourishing ecosystem amongst the rows. It’s all part of the bigger picture to protect our vines and keep pests away naturally. So as you’re busy enjoying this wine, remember our little friends between the flowers who help us to do things both differently, and beautifully.
Marlborough experienced rather high rainfall during the growing season, resulting in high moisture levels throughout the vineyard. Dewy mornings combined with good crops created a sense of nervousness heading into vintage. However, the weather remained stable, which meant we could pick our fruit when desired and the concentration and health of the fruit was outstanding. This resulted in a Pinot Gris that shows concentrated flavours, with underlying purity and minerality.
Carefully selected parcels of Pinot Gris from our Awatere and Wairau Valley vineyards were used to craft this wine. At the winery, individual parcels of fruit were gently pressed and clarified. The clear juice was then fermented separately using a range of selected yeasts. A long, cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks retained the vibrant, fresh characters. After fermentation the wine was blended, stabilised, and filtered in preparation for bottling.
Food Pairing: Beautiful with goat’s cheese, light summer salads, shellfish.
