Peter Yealands Reserve Marlborough Pinot Gris 2017 (T)
Brimming with concentrated notes of ripe pear and honeysuckle, with underlying spicy flavours. The palate is luscious and generous showing wonderful balance between fruit and acidity with a long dry finish.
Marlborough experienced a mild-to-cool spring period, which ensured that the vines naturally produced lighter than average yields. These mild temperatures then extended into the summer months, coupled with an unseasonal period of rain, which ultimately alleviated the drought conditions we had experienced over the past two years. Carrying lighter than usual crops along with the cooler weather meant vintage started only a week later than previous years. The Pinot Gris from this year is showing honeysuckle and nashi pear with some bees wax high tones. The wines are juicy and well structured.
Select parcels of Pinot Gris were harvested from our Seaview Vineyard in the Awatere Valley. The blocks were selected for their purity of flavour and balance. The fruit was gently pressed then separated from the pressings and cold settled for 48 hours before being racked. Following a long, cool fermentation, the wine was kept on lees for a period of two months to enhance texture and body. Post fermentation the wine was stabilised and filtered prior to bottling.Enjoy now, or cellar up to 3 years.
Food Match: Enjoy with poultry and mushroom dishes such as creamy pasta with porcini.
Dietary Information: Suitable for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free diets.
