Summerhouse Marlborough Pinot Rosé 2021

Summerhouse Marlborough Pinot Rosé 2021

  • Dry style
  • Watermelon
  • Raspberry
  • Luscious & fresh

Popping with a gorgeous pink hue and aromas of luscious watermelon and raspberry, each glass is brimming with flavours of fresh red berries and delicious stone fruits.

Vintage 2021 was over before we knew it. Frost events, poor flowering and drought across the growing season meant a smaller crop and a short harvest. But it also meant very little disease pressure, resulting in beautiful, clean fruit and smaller bunches with more intense flavours. Due to COVID travel restrictions still affecting the world, we had seasonal vintage winery staff from 2020 who stayed with us throughout the year. Their experience and expertise was invaluable in vintage 2021, as we brought in many enthusiastic first-timers to assist us with our harvest. As usual, it was a big team effort and we’re excited about the quality and intensity of flavour in our 2021 wines.

Overlooking the ocean, we grow our grapes near the coast in Blind River and the lower Wairau Valley. Our grapes enjoy the region’s long sunshine hours, while the ocean breeze keeps things cooler and drier. This wine is made from a blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. The Pinot Noir was kept on skins for 12 hours, before being gentled pressed. Both the Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris were cool fermented in stainless steel tank to retain the vibrant fruit aromas and flavours, before being tasted and carefully blended.
