"It's delicately fragrant on the nose, showing Gala apple, lemon peel and subtle spice aromas with a hint of sweet strawberry. The palate delivers elegant weight and fine flow, delightfully framed by bright acidity, finishing long and pleasingly dry. At its best: now to 2025" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jan 2024
"A fragrant, fruity bouquet and palate of fresh raspberry, red apple skin and cherry. There’s a natural fruit-spice quality and with some super-fine fruit tannins and backbone of acidity this wine salivates the palate and delivers on flavours and mouthfeel. Crisp, dry finish with best drinking from 2024 through end of summer 2025" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Jan 2024
This wine displays aromas of bright red fruits, subtle florals and delicate spice. A fruit driven palate is balanced with fine texture and a crisp dry finish. All estate-grown, the grapes are hand-picked at just the point of ripeness to capture the natural vibrancy of the fruit.
A challenging season, strong La Niňa conditions continued right through 2022 and the first half of 2023 bringing above average rainfall and humidity to the north and east of the North Island. November, January, and early February were especially wet cumulating with Cyclone Gabrielle impacting Northland on the 12th and 13th of February. After Gabrielle the second half of February and all of March were relatively dry resulting in some good fruit but significantly reduced yields.
Treated as a white wine, this rosé was whole bunch pressed before settling then fermentation cool in stainless steel to accentuate fruit purity. The wine was then blended before being aged on light yeast lees for two months to build complexity and increase mouthfeel.
