The Premium Shiraz Collection (Australia)

The Premium Shiraz Collection (Australia)

An exquisite collection of premium Shiraz wines from Australia's powerhouse wine regions. An expansion on your everyday tastes, indulge in these fine wines and add some stylistic flare to your next dining occasion or simply a sophisticated night in by the fire.

Collection includes:

2 x Sevenhill Inigo Clare Valley Shiraz 2018 (Australia)

Aromas of red currants, sarsaparilla, dark chocolate and sweet spice lead to a palate of vibrant fruit and silky tannins. A moderate maturation in French oak hogsheads has maintained freshness whilst adding complexity and grace.

Here is a generous Shiraz made with fruit from vineyards more than forty years old, namely the Brother Lenz dry-grown block and Brother Dan block. These older vines, combined with more recently planted blocks, provide fruit of great depth and diversity.

Alc: 14.5%

2 x Pirathon Silver Barossa Valley Shiraz 2017 (Australia)

Pirathon Silver Shiraz 2017 has a deep red core with bright hues. The nose consists of lifted dark fruits that dominate the aromatics (ripe plums, blackberry) with background cedar oak and spice nuances of smoked paprika and fennel. The palate is rich, smooth and powerful made to the stylistic template of Pirathon and the Barossa Valley. Immediate flavours of satsuma plums, boysenberry and dark chocolate are wound together with fine powdery coating tannins providing the structure and flavour persistence of the wine. Oak flavours are present with hints of cedar and spice adding complexity and texture. Balanced and approachable for drinking in its youth or if you prefer cellar over the next decade.

The grapes were harvested from the low-yielding vineyards of traditional family growers in the north-western Barossa districts of Greenock, Moppa, Belvedere, Koonunga and Ebenezer. Each vineyard adds its own exclusive dimension to Pirathon Shiraz and combined they produce the ultimate blend.

2 x Eden Hall Springton Barossa Eden Valley Shiraz 2018 (Australia)

AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: New Zealand International Wine Show

AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: Australia & New Zealand Boutique Wine Show

The 2018 Eden Hall Springton Shiraz is deep crimson-purple, with cloves and pepper on the nose. Mulberry and chewy plums follow on the palate showing beautiful balance, structure and length. A classy wine, ready to drink now or cellar with confidence.

The 2018 growing season started off well following above average winter rainfall, but it was dry and warm after that. Owing to later veraison in the Eden Valley as opposed to the Barossa floor, the hot spell in January and February did not cause any concern to the Avon Brae vineyard and the vines took it all comfortably in their stride. Thankfully, Mother Nature did not dish out any adverse events this year and harvest started in March with the whites, and finished on 19 April with the last of the Cabernet blocks. Yields were above average across the board, but quality was good, with Riesling a standout as usual.
