Triennes Rosé 2017 (France)

Triennes Rosé 2017 (France)

"From the Seysses family of Domaine Dujac in Burgundy, this wine hails from east of Aix-en-Provence. It's crisp and fruity with red currant brightness. Acidity and tangy citrus give it a fresh feel. Drink now" Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Jan 2017

Pale pink in the glass. This wine has a bouquet of strawberries and white flowers with hints of vanilla. It has the harmony and elegance that has earned world-wide appreciation of the rosés of Provence. Triennes rosé is the perfect accompaniment to a sunny summer afternoon.

The Triennes name is a reference to Triennia, the festival for Bacchus, which was held every three years during Roman times, whiulst the prefix “Tri” serving as a reminder of the three original partners: two Burgundians, Jacques Seysses, founder of Domaine Dujac, and Aubert de Villaine, who were joined by their Parisian friend, Michel Macaux.

Convinced by their burgundian experience that the quality of great wines comes from the vineyard, when Seysses and Villaine became the new owners of the vineyard the first direction was to invest heavily in the renewal and the tending of the vines. This focus on the vineyard remains a priority to this day. Triennes vineyard is managed as naturally as possible, in harmony with the environment. For instance, they grow a cover crop every second row to help  control vigor, limit erosion and help to assimilate organic material. In 2008 Triennes began its organic conversion with Ecocert which should lead to its certification in the near future.

Treiennes winemakers, make their wines the way they like to drink them, which for the rosé, means a constant search for freshness and aromas. Stylistically the aim is purity in the expression of the terroir, simple winemaking without cosmetics to create wines from winemakers.

A blend of principally Cinsault blended with Grenache, Syrah and Merlot that were harvested at night so that the grapes were cool upon arrival in the winery. Pressed after a few hours of skin contact and fermented at low temperature until dry.
