Turkey Flat Butchers Block Barossa Valley Red 2021 (Australia)
A modern, fresh and fruit driven wine, showcasing the lighter, brighter style of Shiraz. Designed for drinking young. A medium-bodied palate with juicy dark berry fruits, blueberries, pepper spice, dried herbs and game, all held together with fine, supple tannins. Smooth & delicious. Drink now!
Vintage 2021 will be remembered as one of excellent quality and yield. The first dominant La Nina event since the Summer of 2010/11 led to a wet Spring, setting up the best fruit-set seen since the vintage of 2017. While the Eastern and Western seaboards yielded to La Nina with heavy rain over the growing season. South Australia and the Barossa Valley proved to be an anomaly with long, cool and dry conditions that proved ideal for ripening grapes. The resultant wines are intense with fruit and colour.
Source blocks were selected for spice and lift, representing a fresher and more layered version of ‘Barossa Valley shiraz’. 15% whole bunch used to increase spice and structure, with 100% old oak allowing fruit to take the fore.
