Two Hands Gnarly Dudes Barossa Valley Shiraz 2020 (Australia)
- French oak
- Olive & violets
- Dark fruits
- Soft, velvety tannins
"This is a very smart wine that will win over the hearts of many friends new and old. This is delicious, so smooth, layered and caressing, cellar if you have to... or just plug it in and go for the ride, it won't disappoint" Michael Twelftree, Two Hands Wine Proprietor
Deep impenetrable black in colour. Lovely lifted notes of olive, violets, black currant, blood plum and fresh raspberries. The palate shows pure rich and ripe fruits. It holds an amazing depth and persistence, continuing to roll and roll along with a long finish. With a fire line of concentrated dark fruits, this is yum plus! Lip smacking is the best way to describe the sensation. As always with Gnarly Dudes the secret to soft and velvety tannins stem straight from the magic of Barossa Valley fruit itself. The tannins are the focus of the late palate here, defined, proud and succulent.
The parcels of fruit were crushed into and fermented in three, five, seven and 10 tonne open top vessels. Regular pump overs three times daily were perfomed during the peak of fermentation to extract flavours, colours and tannins. At pressing, the free run and pressings were combined to tank, then racked to barrel for oak maturation where malolactic fermentation occured. All batches were kept seperate and blended just prior ro bottling. Wine matured for 12 months in French oak, which 13% was new, and the remainder in one to six year old puncheons and hogsheads.
