Vidal Estate Hawkes Bay Chardonnay 2020
- Subtle French oak
- Stone fruit & citrus
- Flinty minerality
- Fresh acidity
Enticing aromas of citrus and stone fruit with subtle French oak and flinty minerality combine on a vibrant, balanced fruit-driven palate. This wine can be enjoyed on its own or served with fresh seasonal produce.
Fruit was grown in Ohiti Valley and Puketapu where large diurnal shifts provide excellent fruit ripeness while retaining fresh acidity. Particular attention was given to “opening up” vine canopies, yield restriction and selective harvesting. This vintage and our sites deliver a classic Hawke's Bay Chardonnay on an elegantly styled palate.
Juice from the gently pressed whole berry grapes was allowed to naturally settle before being racked with light lees to seasoned French barrique and tank for fermentation. The barrique aged portion has added subtle flavour, aroma and texture while the tank portion has provided fruit purity and clarity to the final wine. Both ferment portions were aged and stirred on lees, adding further complexity and enhancing the mouthfeel of the wine.
Food Pairing: This wine pairs well with seafood, shellfish, chicken or pork.
