Whalebone Bay Marlborough Pinot Gris 2023
- Dry style
- Ripe pear & apple
- Honeysuckle
- Mouth-filling
"Youthfully bright and inviting, the bouquet shows nectarine, Gala apple, ripe pear and jasmine notes, followed by an elegantly flavoursome palate offering zesty fruit notes with beautifully pitched acidity, finishing long and tasty. At its best: now to 2025" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2023
An elegant nose of crisp apple, and honeysuckle with hints of lemon peel. Medium bodied with flavours of rockmelon, pear and tropical fruit. Mouth filling and smooth with lively acids, minerals and a rich, refreshing mouthfeel and dry finish that lingers.
The fruit was harvested at optimum ripeness from a selection of vineyards, predominantly Wairau and Awatere Valley regions of Marlborough. The grapes were carefully monitored during maturity to ensure they were harvested at the peak of flavour development and ripeness. Once at the winery, the fruit was pressed and cold settled. The juice was then fermented in stainless steel at cold temperatures to preserve purity of flavour.
Food Pairing: This Pinot Gris is terrific as an aperitif and fabulous with pork tenderloin and parsnip-cauliflower puree.
