Whyte Estate Marlborough Gewürztraminer 2009
"This is such a rare treat, to be able to sip great quality Gewürztraminer which has had almost 8 years to develop into a luxurious, exotically scented example. You’ll see it’s 14.5% alcohol, which is pretty high for this variety, yet age has softened it and allowed it to merge into a lychee, toffee apple and musky pot pourri pleasure pot. Outstanding with red curry duck" Yvonne Lorkin, Mar 2018
Golden hue with bright reflections in the glass. Richly layered bouquet with notes of lychee, passionfruit, musk and white ginger. A concentrated palate displays fleshy tropical fruit flavours, floral characters and a long, spicy off-dry finish.
Spearheaded by German-born New Zealand Wine Mogul, Theo Giesen, Whyte Estate was established in the name of the late Joyce Whyte, whose lifelong dream was to have a vineyard and winery.
