Yalumba Samuel's Collection Barossa Shiraz 2019 (Australia)

Yalumba Samuel's Collection Barossa Shiraz 2019 (Australia)

  • French & Hungarian oak
  • Wild berry & ripe plum
  • Dark chocolate & spice
  • Full-bodied

"Gorgeous expression of the variety. Wild berry, black pepper and curing spice with complex elegant integrated acidity with a creamy fruit driven texture. Recommend decanting" International Wine Challenge 2022

Deep, dark, purple red in colour. Deliciously brooding aromatics of ripe plum, spicy red currants, anise and dark chocolate. A complex wine with savoury spices, ironstone and lots of dark fruits. This is a full bodied, generously flavoured classic Barossa Shiraz.

Sourced from Barossa vineyards where the vines range from young (approximately 10 - 15 years old) to old (greater than 35 years). They are planted in a diverse range of sites and have slight variations in micro-climates and soil types, including red brown earths, sandy loams or dark clay soils. These variations contribute to the diversity of flavours in Samuel’s Collection Barossa Shiraz.

A cool winter with lighter than average rainfall. This mild, dry weather through the growing season produced grapes with great flavour and concentration. Summer was full of sunshine and dry weather which was great for ripening the grapes.

Matured for 7 months in 18% new French and Hungarian hogsheads and barriques. Balance in older octaves, barriques and hogsheads.

With more than 170 years of unbroken independence, Yalumba continues to make wine at its founder’s home estate under the direction of the same family today. Samuel’s Collection honours Yalumba’s founder Samuel Smith, his spirit of independence and conviction to invest in the land and make great wine.

Food Pairing: Pair with homemade pork sausage rolls and spicy relish or potato and spinach pie.
