Yalumba Samuel's Collection Barossa Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 (Australia)
- French, American & Hungarian oak
- Dark red plums
- Dark chocolate
- Soft & supple
The wine opens with fresh, bright aromas of dark red plums, anise, cherries and brooding dark chocolate, balanced with fine red currant and cedar aromas of Cabernet Sauvignon. The palate is rich, fleshy and generous, yet soft and supple. These rich flavours linger throughout a long, delicious finish.
Sourced from Barossa vineyards with vines varying in age from 10 to more than 35 years. The vines are planted in a diverse range of sites with slight variations in micro-climates and soil types, including red brown earths, sandy loams and dark clay soils. These variations contribute to the diversity of flavours in Samuel’s Collection Barossa Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
A cool winter with lighter than average rainfall. This mild, dry weather through the growing season produced grapes with great flavour and concentration. Summer was full of sunshine and dry weather which was great for ripening the grapes.
Matured for 7 months in 13% new French and Hungarian oak hogsheads, with the balance in 1 to 5 year old French, American and Hungarian barrels.
Food Pairing: Enjoy with crumbed pork cutlets, minted potato and a chickpea salad or grilled broccoli and corn with green olive and white bean salsa.
