Yalumba Y Series Sangiovese Rose 2016 (Australia)

Yalumba Y Series Sangiovese Rose 2016 (Australia)

This is a highly aromatic wine showing raspberry, pomegranate, strawberry and violets. The palate is vibrant and refreshing with layers of ruby grapefruit, blood orange and cranberry.

Enjoy with spicy chicken fajitas with a corn, tomato and coriander salsa.

The grapes for the 2016 Sangiovese Rosé come from three distinct vineyard sites. The two Barossa Valley blocks; Tony Brooks’ Gomersal vineyard on rich, red brown earth over limestone gives the wine depth and length, while Kevin Burgemeister’s Penrice site on brown, sandy loam gives perfume and freshness. Finally, from Terra Rossa country, our Wrattonbully vineyards with red sandy loam over limestone, gives the wine a powerful depth of flavour coupled with a mineral texture.

The grapes were crushed to a skin contact tank where they spent between 1 and 3 hours to get the desired colour. The free run juice was then run off of the skins to a stainless steel tank for a natural (wild) ferment
