Yalumba 'Y' Series Viognier 2022 (Australia)

Yalumba 'Y' Series Viognier 2022 (Australia)

"It takes just a minute for the bouquet of this wine to fully open with aromas of white apricot apricots and peaches with a whisper of apple and white spices. A satin texture touches the palate first then a vibrant acid line and core fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet layer in. Lovely weight and intensity, dry, fruity, varietal and with a decent finish. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2025" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Mar 2023

"Fragrant nose of sliced oranges, papayas, apricots and honeysuckle. Fleshy and fruity, with a full body and creamy, ripe stone fruit. Simple, but pleasing" James Suckling, Nov 2022

Cornsilk yellow in colour with green hues. White flowers and honeysuckle dominate the nose with ginger and five spice. White flowers and ginger are joined by apricot nectar leading to a creamy mid-palate with a silky, textural finish. The wild fermentation and lees aging gives the wine an extra level of complexity on the palate that belies its age.

Good late winter and early spring rainfall replenished the soils. A mild, wet spring kept moisture levels up to the growing vines. Summer and autumn were mild and dry which was ideal for ripening the grapes and allowed us to harvest at the perfect ripeness.

Food Pairing: Harissa chicken or crispy rice pancakes with potato and chickpeas.
