Yealands Marlborough Riesling 2019

The 2019 growing season in Marlborough was a hot and dry one. Winemakers received small amounts of rain around the end of December, but then no further until late February. These rain events had very little impact on soil moisture levels, but helped to replenish the rivers, setting up nicely to see through to harvest. Vintage started in mid-March and it provided incredibly stable weather. This meant blocks could be picked at their optimal ripeness. The Rieslings produced from this vintage has concentrated and refreshing characteristics that we typically see from the Seaview Vineyard.

The Riesling blocks were harvested separately over five days from the Seaview Vineyard. The fruit was pressed gently, separating the free run juice from the pressings into stainless steel tanks. After settling for 72 hours, the clear juice was racked off. They were inoculated with carefully selected yeast strains to capture and enhance the aromatic Riesling fl avors. Once fermentation was completed, the wine was racked, blended, stabilised and fi ltered prior to bottling.
