Bannock Brae Diggers Law Central Otago Pinot Noir 2020
- French oak
- Ripe cherry & plum
- Cinnamon & cloves
- Silky tannins
"It's delightfully fruited and inviting on the nose with dark cherry, mixed spice, olive, game and toasted almond characters. The palate displays succulent fruit intensity with supple texture and silky tannins, finishing soothing and delectable. The wine combined sweet berry flavours with savoury nuances, making it complex and attractively drinking. At its best: now to 2027" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2023
Sunwarmed cherries, doris plums, spiced cinnamon and cloves with underlying savoury notes. Fresh cherries, blackcurrants balanced by sweet vanilla oak and silky fine grain tannins.
Grown in Central Otago elevated glacial terraces and handpicked.
Crafted at Grvaity winery via the ancient gravity-fed process to guide the wines to their fullest expressions. Each of the winery’s four levels serves as a stepping point in the gentle wine-making process. From harvesting to fermentation to barrel, the wine is barely touched before it is bottled.
Fruit is gently destemmed, crushed and cold soaked to maximise colour and flavour extraction. Gently plunged to release the fine berry fruits and spice characters. Pressed to new and seasoned French oak for 11 months further maturation before blending and bottling.
This Pinot Noir celebrates those born of gold, the opportunists, the chancers, the fiercely ungovernable pioneers that carved out a claim on the richest rivers in the world and the self-imposed ‘laws’ that controlled them. Punishable by Diggers Law... Overcharging of liquor, stealing of wife, stealing of claim, hoodwinking a priest, selling a native, beating a drunk & asking a stranger for change.
