Black Cottage Marlborough Pinot Gris 2020

Black Cottage Marlborough Pinot Gris 2020

  • Dry style
  • Pear & quince
  • Vanilla bean
  • Crunchy & crisp

"Delightfully fruited and elegantly lifted, showing fresh pear, lemon peel, Gala apple and floral aromas on the nose, followed by a beautifully focused palate that’s juicy and finely textured. Comforting and tasty with loads of pristine fruit flavours" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2020

A mouth quenching, dry Pinot Gris filled with aromas of pear, fennel bulb and feijoa. The palate has a crunchy, crisp texture and has great drive. Flavours of quince, green olive martini and touches of vanilla bean come through with a crack of rock salt on the finish.

An epic vintage quality wise but Covid-19 made harvest 2020 extremely challenging. A warm, dry season with cool nights, typical of Marlborough, led to good acid levels. The season produced pristine fruit with beautifully ripe flavours. After a long, cool fermentation, the wine was aged on fine yeast lees for 8 weeks to allow the natural texture of the wine to develop.

Food Pairing: Sip solo and pair with Asian fare.
