Craggy Range Te Muna Road Single Vineyard Martinborough Pinot Noir 2021
- French oak
- Bramble fruits
- Mushroom
- Velvet tannins
"Fragrant, silken-textured pinot noir with rose petal, dark cherry, plum and classy oak flavours. Elegant wine from a favourable vintage. Can be appreciated now but should develop well with bottle age. Has a distinctive vineyard character that is hard to describe but easy to appreciate" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, May 2023
Deep burgundy in colour with a crimson hue. A plethora of brambled fruits and porcini mushrooms lead the bouquet. With an exciting and vibrant palate, a red-fruited core wraps the velvet tannin with an undeniable depth of flavour—a long road ahead for this wine that will reward with age.
A cool damp spring resulted in low yields, followed by a warm summer that accelerated ripening conditions.
Grapes were harvested with 34% whole bunch pressed before undergoign indigenous fermentation in both open top stainless steel fermenters and french oak cuves. Wine was aged for 12 months in 27% new French oak barriques before being filtered and fines prior to bottling.
