Dog Point Section 94 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2017
- Dry style
- French oak
- Grapefruit
- Struck flint
"Oak-aged Sauvignon that retains varietal character of lime, grapefruit, green pineapple together with savoury/struck flint and saline/mineral characters. Distinctive and complex wine supported by vibrant acidity" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Oct 2022
"This is a very tight, complex and concentrated sauvignon with flint, grilled-lemon and struck-match aromas, as well as passion-fruit pastry. The palate has a smooth textural build with pastry-like texture and flavors of peaches, lemons and mangoes that hold long" James Suckling, Oct 2022
"This ranks among the country’s greatest oak-aged Sauvignon Blancs. Looking for ‘texture’, rather than rich aromatics’, it is a bright, light yellow/green, with a fragrant, complex bouquet. Still unfolding, it is mouthfilling and vigorous, with a powerful surge of ripely herbaceous flavours, crisp, dry and tightly structured. Best drinking 2024+" Michael Cooper, Oct 202
A complex full bodied style of Sauvignon Blanc with a chalky minerality and fresh herbal influence, complimented by a vibrant acidity which gives the wine focus.
This single vineyard parcel is situated within the Dog Point Vineyard, using the same low cropping level from vines planted in 1992. Fruit is hand-picked, whole bunch pressed and fermented and aged in older French oak barrels for 18 months. Bottled without fining.
Food Pairing: Suggested food matches for Section 94 include fish (particularly salmon), poultry and soft white cheeses.
