Echo Marlborough Pinot Gris 2021

Echo Marlborough Pinot Gris 2021

  • Off-dry style
  • Poached pear
  • Fresh pastry
  • Balanced acidity

"It's delightfully fragrant on the nose showing poached pear, apricot, rockmelon and lemon zest aromas. The palate delivers lovely weight and roundness, combined with ripe fruit intensity, finishing lingering and delectable" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2022

Beautifully rounded flavours of poached pear and fresh pastry with a hint of soft spice. The finish shows well balanced acidity ensuring a refreshing mouth-feel and a flavoursome off dry finish.

The fruit was harvested at optimum ripeness and after pressing the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures to enhance the purity of varietal flavours.

The Echo was a 104 ft scow, rigged as a topsail schooner, used to transport goods in the early 1900s, from Marlborough’s coastal Wairau Bar, to the town of Blenheim by the way of the Opawa river. Todays the river meanders through Marlborough’s flourishing vineyards of the lower Wairau plain.

Food Pairing: Well matched with Japanese cuisine, try salmon sushi, egg roll, tempura.
