Eight Ranges Central Otago Pinot Noir 2019

Eight Ranges Central Otago Pinot Noir 2019

  • Oaked
  • Raspberries
  • Violet & almond
  • Silky & plush

"This is immensely complex and enticing on the nose with sweet berry, bouquet garni, game, violet and almond nuances, leading to a splendidly refined palate offering outstanding concentration and depth. Silky and plush with an impressively long structured finish. At its best: now to 2034" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2022

"Youthful, lifted and varietal wine with pinosity and red berry fruits at the core. Aromas and flavours of cherries and raspberries, some plum and crsuhed stony soil flavours. Oak is judicious and well-placed layering in fine wood tannins and texture. The overall mouthfeel is a combination of fruit and wood tannins bringing a chalky mouthfeel, red fruit flavours and youthful refreshing finish. Drinking best from mid 2023 through 2027+" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Sep 2022

This hand-crafted wine comes from the best fruit from the 2019 vintage. 2019 was bookended by frosty temperatures with a lovely summer through Feb and March. The season produced fruit was somewhere between the concentrated 2017 season and the lighter 2018.

The wine spent 9 months on barrel, 24% new oak, and the characteristics of thyme and cherry reflect the site nicely. The wine will impress now but also will reward a few years in the cellar.
