Elephant Hill Hawke's Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2021

Elephant Hill Hawke's Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2021

  • Dry style
  • Grapefruit
  • Pineapple
  • Salivating acidity

"Bright, even, pale yellow with light green hues. The nose is gentle and elegant, with delicate spice overlaying citrus, guava and herb. Medium-light bodied, expressive and fresh on the palate, aromas of lime and grapefruit intermixed guava, delicate spice, herb and sweet floral linger to a rounded finish. Buoyant acidity flows with good energy, and slick spice sharpens the palate. A lightly rounded, creamy texture provides balance and a sustained, soft finish. This bright, stylish Sauvignon Blanc shows brilliant acidity and spice with a taut citrus core and seamless flow. Match with scallops and mussels over the next 3+ years" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews, Jul 2022

"Elegant, fresh, mineral and fruit laden bouquet with flavours of sweet grapefruit and lemon, white peach and dried pineapple. There’s a fine satin texture as the wine touches the palate with a core of fresh citrus and tropical fruits, salivating acidity and a saline layer adding extra mouthfeel. A dried herb quality emerges on the finish. An excellent example" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Jul 2022

"Attractively fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows green apple, grapefruit, nectarine and lime zest aromas, leading to a finely textured palate that's lively and mouth-watering. Brightly expressed with vibrant flavours, offering excellent drinking. At its best: now to 2024" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jun 2022

A fantastic vintage for Hawke’s Bay with picking starting early for the whites with good ripeness achieved whilst maintaining natural fresh acidity levels. The wines are stylistically elegant, mineral and well defined.

Select pick in 1st & last week of March. Fermented 90% in steel tank, 10% in seasoned French oak. 8 months on fine lees, occasional stirring.

Established in 2003, Elephant Hill is located within a stone’s throw of the Pacific Ocean on the idyllic Te Awanga coast of Hawke’s Bay on New Zealand’s North Island. The winemaking at Elephant Hill is driven by tradition while not losing sight of what innovation can bring to the blend. Our aim is to make wines that are balanced, elegant and a true expression of the vineyards they come from.
