Minervois is a lovely region in the south of France that produces classic reds that off plenty of flavour and character often with a price tag that means they smash it out of the park value wise. The red wines are almost always some variation on the GSM blend with this one being Syrah dominate. This is a rich, authentic Minervois – thanks partly to great terroir and partly to a high-quality vintage. The old vines vines on the estate produce ripe and concentrated fruit. Some of the vines date back to 1934, and these veterans naturally produce fewer grapes. Whole bunch fermentation has brought out the lush fruity flavours of the herbal and blackberry-scented Syrah, the spicy, dark Carignan and fleshy Grenache. This is silky, rich and charming.
