Gold Medal Côtes du Rhône Discovery Collection (France)
When it comes to value and flavour, Côtes du Rhône is known for constantly over-delivering. This new mix absolutely smashes it out of the park for quality and value. Rich, warming and seductively smooth, Côtes du Rhône from the southern Rhône valley are among the best value classic wines of France. This wine is as close as you could hope to come to an authentic Châteauneuf style without paying the premium. Finest Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre from neighbouring vineyards combine beautifully to give herb scented, velvety black fruit, liquorice and spice. If you love your reds silky smooth but full of flavour this mix is for you.
Collection includes:
2 x Reserve de Bonpas Côtes du Rhône 2018 (France)
Awarded Gold Medal: Gilbert & Gaillard 2018
We’ve been fans of the Bonpas wines for a while but we haven’t managed to get any wine out of them...till now! We are delighted to bag this rich, spicy Réserve Côtes du Rhône, particularly thrilling in another tasty Rhône vintage. It is a classic velvety Grenache, enhanced with a little peppery, blackberry rich Syrah. Well ripened in the warm sunshine of 2017, and very moreish – Rhône red at its most appealing best.
Seal: Screw Cap
2 x Maison Bouachon Côtes Du Rhône Les Rabassières 2017 (France)
Awarded Gold Medal: Gilbert & Gaillard 2018
Awarded Gold Medal & 95/100 Points: Decanter World Wine Awards 2018
This luscious red perfectly captures the ripeness, depth and sheer drinkability of the best Côtes du Rhônes. Made from the usual suspects from this part of France - Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault. This beauty has rich, ripe flavours of spiced blackberry, raspberry and redcurrant. Lovely, long, smooth and silky on the palate but with plenty of structure making it feel more serious than the price tag suggests.

2 x Dames de Bonpas Côtes du Rhône Village Plan de Dieu 2017 (France)
Awarded Gold Medal: Gilbert & Gaillard 2018
Awarded Gold Medal & 95/100 points: Decanter World Wine Awards 2018
For rich, ripe, mouthfilling Rhône Villages that’s well priced, head for the Plan de Dieu vineyards in the south. The area is strewn with the same pebbles that you’ll find in Châteauneuf du Pape and that help achieve super ripeness by absorbing heat in daytime and radiating it at night. Resulting in some of the most attractive, warm fruited (and affordable) wines you’re likely to find anywhere. The Dames de Bonpas certainly make the most of its location with this luscious, Gold medal red and its waves of ripe, velvety fruit and smoky complexity.
