Lawson's Dry Hills Estate Marlborough Gewürztraminer 2017

Lawson's Dry Hills Estate Marlborough Gewürztraminer 2017

  • Dry style
  • Potpurri
  • Turkish delight
  • Ripe tropical fruit

Very pale straw in colour while the aromas offer the classic, lifted potpourri florals with lychee and roses with a pronounced thread of fresh lemon. The palate is soft, round and luscious but with wonderful weight and depth. Turkish delight flavours add to the wine’s complexity and give way to ripe tropical fruits on the mid-palate while the finish has a pithy lemon character. Long, concentrated and highly memorable. Enjoy over the next five to six years.

Lawson's Dry Hills Winery Block and the Woodward Vineyard located just a few hundred metres down the road. Two and three-cane, VSP pruned vines. On heavy clay soils which retain moisture and allow growth of these vines without irrigation. These clays give weight and mouthfeel to the wine.

Picking when the flavour is optimal is key for this variety and several passeses were made through the blocks to ensure each parcel was perfect. The grapes were gently pressed and the free run juice went to tank and the pressings to barrel. Post-fermentation the wines were blended to give harmony and balance.

Food Pairing: Thai flavours, coconut-based curries, spices, chilli, Indian and Chinese dishes.
