Silex is a French term and type of sedimentary soil that is rich with flint and gives a “gunflint” character to the wine – a smokey note that the French call “pierre à fusil” and achieved with the Landmark Sauvignon Blanc by crop limitation in the vineyard, terroir, and winemaking techniques.
Lees ageing (6 months) prior to bottling has further developed mid- palate weight adding to the wine’s distinctive citrus, herbal and mineral notes.
Misty Cove’s Landmark Sauvignon Blanc is deeply influenced by old world winemaking techniques. Lovingly handcrafted in small batch quantities, we crafted this wine to reflect the “Landmark” – the attributes and characteristics of the Fareham Lane vineyard from which it originated.
