Misty Cove Tamahine Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Misty Cove Tamahine Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2022

  • Dry style
  • French oak
  • Grapefruit & apricot
  • Bright acidity

"This is wonderfully stylish and engaging, showing grapefruit, apricot, lemon zest and oatmeal characters on the nose. The palate delivers excellent weight and depth, wonderfully complemented by refined texture and bright acidity. Gorgeously harmonious and complex, finishing impressively long and satisfying. The wine was fermented and aged in 20% new French barriques and 80% older barrels for 7 months. At its best: now to 2030" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jan 2023

"An intense, complex, winemaking-influenced wine with appealing pink grapefruit and smoked nectarine fruit aromas enhanced by toasty vanilla pod oak and fire ember sulphide notes. Rich, dry, textural, and very tasty, with really good length, fresh acidity, mellow oak influence, and lots of pizzaz" NZ Wine Rater

"Richly textured sauvignon with passionfruit, guava, red capsicum and pineapple flavours supported by tangy, mouth-watering acidity. Weighty wine that is a stand-out in the challenging 2023 vintage" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, May 2023

Tamāhine in crafted to express a richer side to Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and is made to showcase cellaring potential. Perfectly ripe fruit is fermented and aged for 7 months in 20% new French barrique and 80% older barrels. Light long toasting was chosen for the barrels to help create a more subtle oak influence.

The result is a magnificent barrel-fermented rendition that has complexity, depth, texture, purity of fruit flavour and freshness. Almost too good to share, ensure to savour every drop with family and friends!

Tamāhine pronounced (ta-maa-hi-ne) means “daughter” in Te Reo Māori and is also the name of the first ever ferry connecting the North and South Island; truly one of our unsung heroes. Complex and unconventional, the textural palate respects the history of this fine wine whilst evolving and pushing new boundaries into the future.
