Mount Fishtail Sur Lie Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2023 (Export Wine)
- Dry style
- Crunchy apple
- Passionfruit
- Bright acidity
"Combining classic sauvignon flavours with textured mouthfeel, this is gorgeously expressed on the nose with crunchy apple, passionfruit, lemon peel and green tea aromas with a hint of oatmeal. The palate delivers excellent concentration and power, beautifully supported by refined texture and bright acidity, finishing superbly long and satisfying. At its best: now to 2027" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Nov 2023
Fabulously aromatic on the nose showing crunchy apple, kiwifruit, passionfruit and lemon peel, followed by an intensely flavoursome palate offering excellent fruit power and persistency. It’s intense and concentrated with classical varietal characters that linger with loads of delectable flavours.
Harvested in the cool of the morning & softly pressed. Fermented slowly in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures to preserve the freshness and zing of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Lees aging (6 months) prior to bottling has developed mid-palate weight adding to the wine’s intense fruit characters.
Sur Lie ageing is the process of allowing this wine to sit on the lees (left over dead yeast cells) in order to extract flavours and enrich the palate. Wines aged on their lees tend to be creamier, richer, fuller-bodied with greater depth and complexity.
