Neudorf Tiritiri Nelson Chardonnay 2020
- Oaked
- Summer fruits
- Mineral
- Refreshing finish
"Aromas and flavours of grapefruit and ripe peaches, red apple and spices of oak layered between mineral and clay with a stony gravel suggestion. White flowers and citrus. Delicious on the palate with layers of citrus to stonefruit, apple to quince. The combination of mineral soil, oak and acidity with fine wood tannins lead to a fine finish. Not too unlike a Chablis this wine is an excellent aperitif style, but will also suit fresh whole baked fish and similar dishes. Well made, of course, and ready to drink from late 2022 through 2028+" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Mar 2022
Classically Neudorf, in restraint and modernity, Tiritiri is a Chardonnay lover's package. A balanced collaboration of fruit, oak, acidity and finesse. The wine from nose to palate is generous without ever being overblown. There's a warm familiarity of juicy, summer fruits intertwined with sea-air minarality. The use of oak frames the wine guiding it gently, without demandign attention. All elements are laced together with a fine strand of acidity on the back palate, leaving a long, refreshing and moreish finish.
Tiritiri Chardonnay comes from three sites within the Moutere Hills, including the young vines at Neudorf's own Rosie's Block.
Grown in Moutere Glay Gravels from low cropped vines. The grapes were hand harvested, and left to wild ferment. 12% was barrel fermented, before the wine was bottled (unfined so is vegan).
Food Pairing: Destined for seafood, as an aperitif or with strong flavoured hard cheeses.
