"A bold, loud and distinctive bouquet with powerful scents of ripe white fleshed fruits and fresh herbs including angelica and basil, tropical fruits of green melon and passionfruit. Youthful, taut, crisp and equally intense on the palate. The acidity is easily contrasted by the core of fresh, ripe fruit flavours, lightweight yet intense mouthfeel and lengthy delicious finish. Best dirnking from 2023 through 2027" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Oct 2022
"Fresh and fruity wine with punchy lime, passion fruit, lemon blossom flavours. Delicious, ethereal wine with a backbone of juicy acidity. A wine that speaks of both season and place" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Oct 2022
"A unique, ripe, characterful, bouquet with tropical aromas of plantain, green pineapple, and passionfruit plus more individualistic notes of sweet corn, sandalwood and orange capsicum. A dry, textural, focused palate with crunchy, zesty acidity and a fine finish. Will be better still in 6-12 months' time" NZ Wine Rater, Sauvignon Blanc Tasting 2022
"Full of youthful impact, the 2022 vintage (4.5*) was entirely estate-grown. Bright. light lemon/green, it is a highly aromatic, medium-bodied wine, with fresh. penetrating tropical fruit and herbaceous flavours, crisp. dry and zingy" Michael Cooper, Buyer's Guide to New Zealand Wines, Nov 2022
Pale lemon, perfect clarity. A musky and aromatic nose showing blackcurrant, passionfruit, garam masala, tomato leaf and blossom. Electric and intense with pristine fruit expression, the palate is dry, focused and luscious. A hint of phenolic grip adds mouthfeel and texture, the wine finishing long and layered. A stylish and food-friendly style of Sauvignon in the finest tradition of this iconic label.
An iconic Martinborough style of Sauvignon Blanc that is serious, subtle and textural while still oozing with vibrant tropical and citrus fruit characteristics.
70% of the fruit from our Palliser Vineyard the balance from our Pencarrow Vineyard. The fruit is harvested and gently crushed to tank, cold settled over 2 days and racked to tank and fermented leaving 3.5g/litre of residual sugar giving added weight and texture to the wine. The wine then spends a further 2 months on lees before bottling.
Food Pairing: Enjoy with kaimoana and Asian style cuisine between now and 2027.
