Saint Clair Vicar's Choice Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2023
- Dry style
- Gooseberry
- Passionfruit
- Lingering finish
"Wonderfully fruited and inviting, the wine shows green rockmelon, kiwifruit, crunchy apple and jasmine characters, leading to a super-tasty palate delivering terrific fruit purity and intensity. A classic expression filled with vibrant fruit flavours, offering terrific drinking. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2023
Pale green. Vibrant aromas of tropical passionfruit and gooseberry combines with a delicate herbaceous thread. Crisp and refreshing with zesty flavours of gooseberry, lime zest and passionfruit. A bright burst of citrus and a salty minerality leads to a long, lingering finish. Perfect for drinking immediately, this Sauvignon Blanc will be at its best over the next two years.
Fruit was sourced from vineyards throughout Marlborough, predominantly in the lower Wairau sub-region. The fruit was carefully monitored throughout maturity and was harvested upon reaching optimum flavour development and ripeness. Transported to the winery with haste and pressed off with minimal skin contact, the resulting juice was cool fermented in stainless to retain freshness and varietal flavours.
The vines were pruned using three or four cane vertical shoot positioning (VSP). Each vineyard’s yield is managed appropriately and is dependent upon the ability to ripen clean, quality grapes to their desired flavour spectrum.
Food Pairing: Enjoy with garlic prawns or Thai-style chicken salad.
