Spy Valley Single Estate Marlborough Gewürztraminer 2017

Spy Valley Single Estate Marlborough Gewürztraminer 2017

"Perfumed and unmistakably Gewürz, the bouquet shows ripe stone fruit, mango, rose petal and subtle spice notes, followed by a succulent palate that is smooth and lingering. The wine is flavoursome and soothing with an attractively silky finish. At its best: now to 2021" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jul 2019

Lovely aromas of mango, ginger, nutmeg and rose petal perfume the bouquet. The palate boasts powerful fruit flavours support a smooth flowing structure that lingers in the mouth.

Gewürz means “spice” and that is exactly what you’ll get from this wine. Spicy with aromas of Turkish delight and bright tropical fruit notes.

The grapes for this wine were grown on vines with vertical shoot positioning, shoot and bunch thinning to restrict yield. Open canopies with high bunch exposure to sunlight. Early morning picking of four separate parcels, three with overnight skin contact. Fermented mainly in old oak ovals over several months then blended together before bottling. Although deliciously fruity when young, there is structure to give the option of cellaring for several years. The optimum suggested drinking window would be from 1-5 years after harvest.

Food Pairing: Enjoy this wine with food, a spicy Thai curry is the perfect match.
