1 x Little Giant Barossa Shiraz 2017 (Australia)
Awarded 94/100 Points & 5 STARS: Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2018
Awarded 92/100 Points: Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
"Powerfully graceful, this delicious shiraz shows blackberry, blueberry compote, vanilla, roasted hazelnut and pepper spice notes on the nose, leading to a richly fruited palate that displays excellent depth and concentration, wonderfully framed by polished tannins. Gratifying and terrific drinking. At its best: now to 2027" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2018
"Barossa Shiraz. The brand is Little Giant, the website address is Little Giants. I deal in the small things. This is a new brand, by the looks, by Fourth Wave Wine. It comes in a short, fat, stump of a bottle. It has a wombat on the label aka a short, fat, stump of an animal. Conversation starter. Interesting. And we’re away. Barossa Shiraz. Hard to go wrong, and you certainly won’t here. This is an amazingly good buying/drinking option. So dark, so supple, so polished. Boom, as the wannabe cool kids say. Violet, clove, plum and sweet spice. The bounce of boysenberry. It’s not overly dark in colour terms but it tastes like ink, if that makes sense. It feels good in the mouth but it also feels ready to explode" Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front
The Barossa Valley component shows typical plum, red liquorice, chocolcate and mocha characters whilst the addition of the spicier, darker fruit of the cooler Eden Valley has added lift, interest and freshness. This is a contemporary Barossa Shiraz having spent maturation time in older oak adding subtle vanilla and match stick nuance but also softens it whilst maintaining freshness and vibrancy.

This is plush with lifted red and blue berry fruit flavours layered with dark spice, fresh leather and black olive. The palate is loose and mouth-filling, driven long by fresh acidity and supple tannins. A serious wine suitable for all occasions – ready to drink now or with careful cellaring it will improve over the medium term.

Awarded 90/100 Points: Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2016
"A preservative-free wine; the youthful bouquet shows lifted aromas of dark plum, blueberry, floral and mixed spice with a touch of citrus vibrancy. The palate is generous and beautifully weighted, and delivers lovely fruit richness and silky texture, nicely structured by supple tannins. The wine offers plenty of pristine fruit flavours. At its best: now to 2019" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2016
"The Touriga pours a dense black crimson into the glass. Strong perfumed aromas of savoury dark plummy fruit, violet and lavender florals and toasty oak. Further aromas of cinnamon and a hint of white pepper add interest. The nose segues to a buoyant dark and red-fruited palate. Plum, blackberry, boysenberry. Perfume and fruit upfront and then transitions to a mid-weight, generous core with secondary flavours of coffee, spice and earth. The florals hang around and there is a smooth leather-like texture to the back. A savoury line of bright acidity and firm tannins drive the wine to a lengthy finish...This wine will have you reaching for that second glass" Peter Malcolm,The Inquisitive Palate Blog
This New South Wales version offers a vibrant glass of red that ticks all of the boxes: vivid, cloth staining purple with a wild and opulent nose of boysenberry and blood plums, lifted by violet and spice overtones. The palate is medium bodied with fantastic blackberry and boysenberry flavours, dark soil and spice with faint herbal complexity.
