Te Quiero Organic Red Field Blend 2018 (Spain)

Te Quiero Organic Red Field Blend 2018 (Spain)

  • Subtle oak
  • Ripe fruit
  • Spice notes
  • Round tannins

"It's impressively fruited and instantly appealing on the nose showing dark fruit richness with cocoa, smoked game, cake spice and roasted nut nuances. The palate displays excellent weight and power combined with fleshy texture and velvety mouthfeel, offering terrific drinking. At its best: now to 2023" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jul 2020

"A blend of mainly tempranillo and syrah with smaller amounts of garnacha, graciano, monastrell, and tinto velasco. The minor varieties are in such tiny quantities they are fermented together (hence Field Blend). Warming, fruit-focused red with violet, plum, spice and very subtle oak flavours. Surprisingly more suave than rustic. Deliciously drinkable, especially at this price" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review

A deep, intense purple colour in the glass with ripe spiced and brambly fruit flavours. Pure and mouth filling on the palate with rich round tannins and a lively finish.

The name of this wine translates to "I love you", and was inspired by Spain's largely untapped fine wine resources. Friends, colleagues and Masters of Wine, Fergal Tynan and Giles Cooke, set off on a journey to find the unsung heroes of Spain. Much of Spain's vineyards are devoted to the commercial grape varieties that we all know and love such as Tempranillo, Garnacha and Syrah, but there are also small plots of older, native varieties such as Graciano, Monastrell and Tinto Velasco that farmers have preserved out of a sense of pride or interest in their history.

Today we recognise more and more the value of this diversity and the wealth of flavours of some of these older varieties when they come together in a blend. The small amount of these grapes that remain means it is not possible to vinify them separately so the grapes tend to be harvested together as a Field Blend.

Food Pairing: Great with snack-like appetizers such as bruschetta or tortilla chips, or tapas or more substantial meat dishes, casseroles and intense cheese.
