Thorn-Clarke Shotfire Barossa Quartage 2018 (Australia)

Thorn-Clarke Shotfire Barossa Quartage 2018 (Australia)

  • French oak
  • Blackberries & plum
  • Savoury notes
  • Plush tannins

"A characterful and ageworthy blend in which malbec and cabernet franc play more than a support role, defining not only fragrant lift and savoury complexity, but deepening a fine, dry tannin profile. The crunchy redcurrants of cabernet uphold a bright, tangy core of freshness and integrity, holding long through an even and enduring finish. One for the cellar" Halliday Cellaring Selections 2021

A blend of four classic varietals; Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc & Merlot. This generous blend boasts a rich deep red-purple colour. Aromas of blackberries, satsuma plum and anise fill the glass. On the palate, plush tannins are accompanied by rich notes of cassis and blackcurrant. Together they produce a wine with lavish density, complexity and length. A wine that can be enjoyed now or laid down to age for many years.

The fruit was harvested at night. Fermentation was carried out in a variety of small capacity fermenters. After pressing the parcels were filled to French oak for 12 months maturation. The wine was racked after six months and the parcels were blended to form the final wine.
