Thornbury Waipara Pinot Gris 2023

Thornbury Waipara Pinot Gris 2023

  • Dry style
  • Pear & apple
  • Subtle ginger spice
  • Well-balanced

Waipara enjoys a warm and dry climate with high sunshine hours and along growing season. Perfectly suited to producing Pinot Gris with pristine flavours whilst retaining good natural acidity. This Pinot Gris displays lovely vibrant characteristics of fresh yellow pear, apples and ripe rockmelon with a hint of ginger spice. A textural wine with balance and weight, best enjoyed young.

Fruit for this wine was sourced from the Waiata Vineyard located in the Waipara winegrowing region. Grown on the famous Glasnevin soils that are unique to this region.

After a superb growing season, the grapes were harvested in March then lightly pressed to tank to achieve a bright, clean juice. Cultured yeast strains and cool fermentation techniques have helped preserve the natural fruit flavours. Some residual sugar was left to balance the final blend. Post fermentation, the wine was left on yeast lees to help build texture. Gentle fining and careful filtration followed before bottling.

Food Pairing: Seafood, white meats or Goats Cheese.
