Three Miners Miner’s Right Central Otago Pinot Gris 2020
- Dry style
- Nashi Pear
- Florals
- Long, spicy finish
"This is gorgeously composed and inviting on the nose, showing poached pear, lemon peel and floral characters with a hint of brioche complexity. It's equally satisfying on the palate, delivering excellent weight and fleshy texture, wonderfully supported by silky mouthfeel and refreshing acidity. Fabulously drinkable" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2020
"Kirstin and Paul Wright ditched construction and plant pathology to dive headfirst into vineyard life in Alexandra in 2014. Six years later, they turned out this fabulously floral, seductively fragrant, ultra-juicy pinot gris. With stacks of stonefruit and punchy poached quince, there's a clean, zesty character to the palate allowing a nip of natural sweetness to wash through" Yvonne Lorkin, Canvas 2022
Pale straw with lemon hues. Floral and nashi pear aromatics lead into a beautifully balanced mid palate with great fruit weight and a long spicy finish.
The fruit was hand harvested on the 19th of April 2020 at 22 brix from Three Miners Vineyard, near Alexandra. The fruit was whole bunch pressed to tank and the juice allowed to settle before being racked. Fermentation was started using selected wine yeast and stopped once flavour and acid balance was achieved.
A Miner’s Right was required under the Gold Field’s Act 1858, to legally mine for gold. Miner’s Rights cost £1 and were first issued in 1861.
Food Pairing: Antipasto, roast chicken and seafood.
