Toi Toi Reserve Gisborne Chardonnay 2018
- French oak
- Nectarine
- Roasted hazlenut
- Refreshign acidity
"Aromas and flavours of baked yellow fruits with nectarine and peach dominating. A layer of nutty oak flavours, burnt butter and toasty wood combinations. Medium acidity, quite weighty with medium length. Overall a nice wine with decent length. Drink now and through 2022" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier
Lovely aromas of ripe nectarine and peach with subtle undertones of classy French oak. A softly textured mid palate delights with roasted hazelnut and toasted oak nuances, both refreshing and mouth filling.
After a warm 2018 season in Gisborne, the Chardonnay grapes exhibited wonderful intense flavours. Once at optimal ripeness and flavour ready the grapes were harvested in the cool of the early morning to preserve their flavour, then gently pressed with the resultant juice fermented using selected yeast strains known for their aromatic qualities. The wine was then aged in contact with high quality new and old French oak, and left on yeast lees for 2 months to enhance texture and palate weight. This is a classic, soft and elegant style of Chardonnay that has great fruit expression with just a hint of cedary French oak that adds to its complexity. This wine will age gracefully over the next 2-3 years.
Food Pairing: Crack open a bottle of the Gisborne Chardonnay with a pot roasted chicken served on a bed of puy lentils with green salad & enjoy with friends and family!
