Tony Bish Fat & Sassy Hawke's Bay Chardonnay 2021
- French oak
- Ripe peach & nectarine
- Vanilla & crème brûlée
- Rich & creamy
"It’s comforting and super tasty with ripe apricot, rockmelon, nougat and roasted hazelnut notes on the nose, leading to a splendidly flavoursome palate offering succulent fruit intensity with creamy mouthfeel and well-pitched acidity, making it delectable and satisfying. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Apr 2022
"Bright, even, pale straw-yellow with some depth. The nose is soft and open, a creamy veil laying over citrus, stonefruit, minerals and subtle oak expression. Medium-bodied, aromas of grapefruit, lemon curd, stonefruit entwined with roasted almond, citrus zest, enriched by a buttery tone. The wine has a curvy line revealing a creamy and a lush mouthfeel; lively acidity enlivened and lengthened the finish. Fine-textured phenolics contribute to a dusty, slightly chewy palate. This is a pleasing Chardonnay features citrus and stonefruit with harmonious nutty oak on a lush palate" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, Apr 2022
"A rich, buttery, fuller flavoured style of Chardonnay which tastes as though it's undergone a malolactic. Generous flavour but not overblown, nor 'fat' as the name suggests. Really, a very smart wine and excellent value" Huone Hooke, Real Review, Dec 2022
"Bright, high-energy Chardonnay with peach, stone fruit, oyster-shell and subtle roasted nut flavours supported by tangy acidity. A lot of wine for the price" Bob Campbell, Master of Winel, Real Review, Apr 2022
Lifted notes of ripe peach & nectarine with gentle aromas notes of vanilla and Crème Brûlée. The palate is richly fruited with creamy texture and beautiful flow. Harmonious and complete Chardonnay.
Harvested from vineyards in the Bridge Pa Triangle district of Hawke’s Bay. Predominantly Clone 15, with the balance being Mendoza clone Chardonnay. Vertical shoot positioned canopies with sustainable management and zero residues.
Machine harvested fruit was gently destemmed without crushing and pressed to tank for settling. Following racking, the juice was transferred to a large 9hL French Oak Cuvée and barriques for fermentation and maturation. Juices were inoculate with CY3079 yeast for primary fermentation.
All batches went through a secondary malo-lactic fermentation. The wine was aged sur-lie for 9 months before racking and filtration to bottle.
