Two Rivers Tributary Marlborough Pinot Noir 2017
"A stylish Pinot from the Southern Valleys district, the complex bouquet shows dark cherry, ripe strawberry, thyme, cedar and warm spice aromas, leading to a concentrated palate that is wonderfully weighted and beautifully flowing. It is rounded and supple with textural mouthfeel, superbly framed by fine-grained tannins. Seductively attractive. At its best: now to 2023" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2019
"Appealingly perfumed Pinot Noir with floral, violet, cherry and fresh herb flavours. A supple, elegant and sinewy wine that's a pleasure to taste. A perfect balance of fruit sweetness with bright acidity. Pinot with personality" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, May 2019
Dark crimson in colour, the bouquet has lifted aromas of violets, blueberries, red liquorice, chalk and a slight mushroom earthiness. The palate is youthful with blackberry and raspberry flavours interlaced with pepper, hazelnut husks and cigar box nuances. Silky tannins, charming oak and an elegant structure will insure this wine ages gracefully.
Sourced from Brookby Hill Vineyard in the Southern Valleys, the grapes were hand harvested and partially de-stemmed before undergoing 50% wild fermentation. 30% whole bunch clusters were added to the ferment for an increased lift in aromatics and structure. The resulting wine was aged in 25% new and seasoned French oak barrels for 11 months. The wine was unfined and unfiltered.
