Two Rivers Tributary Marlborough Pinot Noir 2018
- French oak
- Sweet cherry & plum
- Toasted almond
- Relaxed tannins
"Seductive, perfumed, fruity and varietal with aromas of crushed red cherry and plum, roses and dried herbs, layers of wood spice and dry stone minerality. On the palate - youthful, firm texture from chalky tannins and stony earthy flavours. Plenty of acidity adding a fresh, crisp texture. Ripe and tart cherry, plum and red apple skin, clove and baking spices. Really quite the lovely wine, still very young and primary, but needs some cellar time still to bring all the elements together. Very well made, lengthy finish. Drink from 2021 through 2026" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Mar 2020
"Beautifully fruited and composed, the wine shows spiced plum, sweet cherry, olive, dark mushroom and toasted almond characters. The palate displays lovely weight and expansive mouthfeel, wonderfully complemented by refined texture and grainy tannins, leading to a persistent polished finish. Stylish, harmonious and seductively complex. At its best: now to 2023" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Feb 2020
"Delicately-scented pinot noir with floral, red fruits and subtle spicy flavours plus a touch of dried herbs. A supple wine that's been made with a light touch" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Mar 2020
Representative of the 2018 vintage, this wine is bright and delicious with typical spice and savoury characters of Brookby Hill Vineyard. Lifted aromatics of blueberries and violets are interlaced with earthy, black pepper flavours on the palate. This charming wine has great energy, relaxed tannins and an elegant structure.
Grapes were hand harvested from our high density planted (5,000 vines per hectare) Brookby Hill Vineyard. The grapes underwent wild fermentation, with 40% whole-bunch for an increased lift in aromatics and structure. 75% of the resulting wine was aged in 4,500L French oak cuves, while 25% went into seasoned French oak barrels. Both portions were aged for 11 months. In pursuit of the highest quality, we have not filtered this wine.
