Whalebone Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2023
"It's delightfully lifted on the nose, showing Granny Smith apple, peach, fig, and lemon zest aromas, followed by a flavoursome palate offering punchy fruit flavours with beautifully pitched acidity, finishing lingering and joyful. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jan 2025
"Bright, even, very pale yellow. The nose is soft, with aromas of passionfruit, citrus, white spice and fresh herbs. Medium-bodied, aromas of lime and green apple melded with passionfruit, capsicum and a touch of white pepper. Taut and zesty acidity carry vibrant fruit with ease to a refreshing, crisp finish" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, May 2025
This Sauvignon Blanc is beautifully aromatic with layers of blackcurrant, orange peel and green bell pepper prominent on the nose. The palate is fresh and varietal with delicious stone fruit and blackcurrant flavours. Mineral traits and a line of acidity leaves a crisp mouthfeel that lingers on the palate and leaves you wanting more. Enjoy!
Our 2023 Whalebone Bay Sauvignon Blanc was crafted using select parcels from various Marlborough Vineyards. Moderate crop levels and experienced canopy management led to a successful growing season with deliciously expressive fruit. Mahine harvested and transported to the winery immediately, each parcel was pressed from skins and fermented in cool stainless-steel tanks, retaining fresh and fruity characters from the grapes. After a swift fermentation process, the wine was blended, fined, and prepared for bottling.
