Yealands Marlborough Rosé 2021

Yealands Marlborough Rosé 2021

  • Dry style
  • Strawberry
  • Rhubarb
  • Well balanced acidity

This blush-coloured rose as a bouquet full of summer delights. Brimming with strawberry, juicy watermelon, and red apple aromatics. The palate has layers of red summer berries and rhubarb, with well balanced acidity and a lingering morish finish.

This is the earliest harvest on record since their inception. There were late spring frosts in Marlborough and some challenging weather over the flowering period, which resulted in moderate crops throughout the region. These moderate crops, coupled with a warm and stable end to the growing season, set them up for an early start with stunning fruit. They had clear warm days throughout March, so they could pick at their leisure, without any pressure from the elements. This resulted in a Rosé that is filled with lifted aromatics and a beautiful concentrated mouthfeel.

The Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir parcels that created this Rosé were individually harvested and field destemmed. The Pinot Noir had extended skin contact in the press to achieve the desired colour and flavour balance, while the Pinot Gris parcels were gently pressed on arrival. The juice was then cold settled for 48 hours then racked prior to a long cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks to capture bright, fresh fruit characters. Each parcel was fermented separately with a range of yeasts to build complexity and structure. Following fermentation the wine was blended, stabilised and filtered prior to bottling.

Their wine is inspired by the coast that surrounds them, so close to the ocean that their vines are often misted with sea spray. The beauty of our environment influences how they craft wine, respectful of nature and their land. Yealands believes in sustainable winemaking and creating thoughtfully crafted wines that work in harmony with their landscape.

Food Pairing: Enjoy with goats cheese, light Summer salads or your favourite seafood.
