Château Laussac Bordeaux 2018 (France)

Château Laussac Bordeaux 2018 (France)

  • French oak
  • Red & black fruit
  • Soft tannins
  • Elegant finish

The 2018 Laussac is a lend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon & 10% Cabernet Franc. It has a detailed, quite complex bouquet with lifted blackberry and cedar aromas, very expressive and welcoming. The palate is clean and fresh, very well balanced with soft tannin, pure black and red fruit, and is beautifully poised with an elegant finish that is an absolute delight. Great value as always.

This Château is no stranger to Gold medals, winning them for most vintages since 2010. The estate lies just outside Castillon, on the Right Bank, near Saint-Emilion and the Côtes de Francs. Vines planted 30 years ago are now producing grapes of superb intensity, especially thanks to excellent soils (the same as you’ll find in much of Saint-Emilion). Good drainage makes vines struggle to find nutrients and the result is more mineral complexity and flavour in the Merlot-rich wine. And such is the owners dedication to perfection that since 2010 they have turned over the vineyards to organic viticulture, and is certified as 'High Environmental Value Estate' (HEV).
